Stitch Up Events are spaces where fiber enthusiasts can come together and celebrate our passion for fiber arts, learn from each other and grow in our fiber community. More than just casual gatherings, Stitch Up Events focus on people rather than being a marketplace or a classroom. Whether you knit or crochet, both or neither, this is the place for you if you want to be part of the fiber family.

How it all started…

Stitch Up Chicago began in 2017 when Michele Costa, founder of the blog Stitch & Hustle, wanted to bring her online friends together offline for an afternoon of fiber and fun. Amazingly, but unexpectedly, the response to create a small friendly get together outgrew the planned coffee shop gathering. Michele quickly realized the community hungered for this type of event, and Stitch Up Chicago was born.

After three incredibly successful years, Stitch Up Chicago grew beyond the Windy City with the launch of Stitch Up Events. While Chicago will always be a special place, Michele heard loud and clear when the community asked for this to expand to other cities. After a successful event in New York City that launched Stitch Up Brooklyn in 2019, Michele knew it was time to bring Stitch Up to more cities across the USA.

Unfortunately, the pandemic happened and those plans were put on hold. Stitch Up Chicago 2020 was the last fiber event before the shutdown.

In 2022, Michele intended to bring Stitch Up Chicago back and resume building into new cities, but those plans were set aside by the unexpected and untimely passing of her husband of 17 years. In 2023, the time was finally right, and Stitch Up Chicago returned. Back and more enthusiastic than ever, Michele has picked her yarn back up and is spinning bigger and better plans for new Stitch Up Events.
